Vitrification of human germinal vesicle oocytes; before or after in vitro maturation?
Authors
Abstract:
Background The utilization of immature oocytes derived from stimulated cycles could be of great importance, specially for urgent fertility preservation cases. The aim of the current study was to determine whether in-vitro maturation is more successful before or after the vitrification of these oocytes. MaterialsAndMethods The study was performed in a private IVF center. 318 germinal vesicle (GV) stage oocytes were collected from 104 stimulated oocyte donation cycles. Oocytes were divided into two groups according to whether vitrification was applied at the GV stage (group 1) or if they were in vitro matured to the MII stage and then vitrified (group 2). In a third, control group, oocytes were in vitro matured without being vitrified (group 3). In all three groups, survival rate after warming, maturation rate and MII-spindle/chromosome configurations were assessed. Chi-square test was used to compare rates between the three groups. Statistical significance was defined at P

full textP-145: Maturation Capacity and Viability Assessment of Human Immature Oocytes After Vitrification and In Vitro Maturation (IVM)
Background: 15% of oocytes collected in ART cycles are immature. These oocytes may be matured following IVM program. It is possible to cryopreserve the immature oocytes for further use in ART after application of IVM. The aim was to determine the maturation rate, morphology and viability of human immature oocytes after fresh IVM and vitrified-IVM program. Materials and Methods: 63 women who und...
full textP-217: The Effect of Progesterone on The In Vitro Maturation of Mouse Germinal Vesicle Oocytes Derived from Polycystic Ovary
Background: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is characterized by chronic anovulation and hyperandro genism and affects approximately 5-10% of women of reproductive age. In vitro maturation (IVM) of mammalian oocytes has become an efficient method to produce mature oocytes in order to use in assisted reproductive techniques such as in vitro fertilization (IVF), intra cytoplasmic sperm injection ...

Background: Cryopreservation of oocytes, which is an interesting procedure to conserve female gametes, is an essential part of reproductive biotechnology. The objective of the present study was to investigate the effects of cumulus cells on survival,in vitro maturation, fertilization and subsequent developmental capacity of mouse germinal vesicle stage oocytes during vitrification. Materials and...

BACKGROUND In general, 15% of oocytes collected in ART cycles are immature. These oocytes may be cryopreserved further for use in in-vitro maturation (IVM) program. OBJECTIVE The aim of this study was to determine maturation capacity, morphometric parameters and morphology of human immature oocytes in both fresh IVM (fIVM) and vitrified-IVM (vIVM) oocytes. MATERIALS AND METHODS 93 women who...
